The University of Vermont held their first Swipe Out Hunger drive in Fall 2018 and will pilot the program in Spring 2019 with a mission to alleviate student hunger. The program operates as a partnership between the Food Insecurity Working Group (consisting of faculty, staff, and students), UVM Dining (Sodexo), UVM Division of Student Affairs, and the Swipe Out Hunger national campaign. Meal donation drives will be hosted the week before finals during peak times at dining locations across campus. Students with unlimited meal plans can stop by tables at dining locations to donate one guest meal swipe each semester which will be redistributed to students facing food insecurity throughout the year. More details will come about meal distribution to students interested in receiving donated swipes in 2019!
