This documentary, created by college student Daniel McCain, explores college student hunger in Virginia and how students successfully advocated for the Hunger Free Campus Act. Through his work, Daniel shares the importance and urgency of this issue from the perspective of students affected by it and how they are leading the solutions we need.⁠

In February, more than 30 students from across Georgia gathered in Atlanta to act against college food insecurity. These students championed the Hunger Free Campus bill, speaking with legislators through the day to urge their support. ⁠

Students from across the country gathered to discuss their work toward ending college hunger on their campuses. Over the course of two days, the group shared their experiences, participated in workshops, and developed solutions to make the shared dream of food security for all students a reality. ⁠

We'd like to thank @gw_globalfood and @aspeninstitute for sponsoring the Student Summit. We'd also like to thank Dr. Gabby Headrick for leading the students in a human-centric design workshop, as well as PhD student Nour Hammad and Swipe Out Hunger Board Member johnluke_p for being our keynote speakers. ⁠

Nour said it best in her keynote: "This summit is not just a gathering. It is an intervention in and of itself." We are beyond grateful for every student who joined us and are continuing to reshape their campuses for the better!

Prior to joining Swipe Out Hunger, Isabel coordinated a statewide children's health coalition of over 40 organization and drove state-level policy change through legislative engagement and community-based research.⁠
