CELEBRATE RACHEL SUMEKH,
SWIPE OUT HUNGER FOUNDER & CEO
After 12 years of visionary leadership, our Founder Rachel Sumekh is transitioning out of her role as CEO of Swipe Out Hunger at the end of July 2022. As we step into the next chapter of Swipe Out Hunger, our Community is eager to honor Rachel for her unwavering commitment to ending college student hunger and advancing the needs of all students.
Like Rachel’s personal journey, the story of Swipe Out Hunger has been one of transformation. Rachel grew from a shy college student into a national leader and an expert on college hunger and basic needs. Under her leadership, Swipe Out Hunger has evolved from one campus campaign to the systems-changing nonprofit we are today with a network of over 450 campus partners, more than $100M secured through Hunger Free Campus Bills, expert staff and board members, programs high in demand, and a strong financial position to continue strengthening the college anti-hunger movement.
THE RACHEL SUMEKH EMERGING LEADERSHIP FUND
To honor Rachel’s legacy and the transformative impact she has had on college student hunger, Swipe Out Hunger has launched The Rachel Sumekh Emerging Leadership Fund. This fund will bolster our mission: supporting our comprehensive and critical systems changing work at the campus, community, state and federal levels in order to carry forward the impact that Rachel started into the next generation.
Swipe Out Hunger was started for students, by students. As Rachel scaled this program to other campuses, she knew how critical it was to center student voices and action in the national conversation to end college hunger. Through her audacious vision, she helped embolden thousands of student leaders across the nation to create lasting change. Leading by example, Rachel has changed the lives of college students across the country through equitable food access and leadership opportunities.
Swipe Out Hunger has set out to raise $150,000 for the The Rachel Sumekh Emerging Leadership Fund by August 31, 2022. We invite you to pay tribute to our fearless Founder, Rachel Sumekh, and her investment in college students, and support the next significant phase of Swipe Out Hunger’s mission and student impact.
