About the program

The University of South Carolina Swipe Out Hunger program was brought to fruition after the election of the first Speaker of the Senate Patrick Ellis, who made the issue of student food insecurity a foundational part of his campaign. He along with his campaign manager, and Chief of Staff, Davis Latham worked with the University of South Carolina Leadership and Service Center, and Carolina Food Company (Aramark) to create the first campus meal drive, collecting over 400 swipes in 24 hours. In March of 2019, Davis Latham was elected to be the next Speaker of the Student Senate and grew the program to 640 swipes.

Are you experiencing food insecurity? To gain access to donated swipes and other resources, the first step is to apply through the Leadership and Service Center here. If you are selected, you will be notified via email.
