Welcome Bruins!

About the program

Throughout the 10th week of each quarter, the UCLA Swipe Out Hunger team hosts a drive to allow Bruins to donate their unused meal swipes to support their classmates facing food insecurity. Students can donate unused swipes at the Swipe Drive tables or via an online form posted on the team Facebook page.

In the Winter 2020 Swipes Drive, Bruins donated a record 31,893 swipes!

Are you experiencing food insecurity?  To gain access to donated swipes and other resources, the first step is to complete the ECRT Self-Assessment Form located here. ECRT connects with students seeking support within 24-48 business hours from the initial request, and students who are approved can pick up meal vouchers at various locations, posted here. Check out the Campus Resources section below for contact information for ECRT.

Program Roots

UCLA is the trailblazing founding site of Swipe Out Hunger, which initially began with a group of friends. When their grassroots efforts were featured in the campus newspaper because of administrator pushback, a student senator joined the efforts and together, they made Swipe Out Hunger an institution at UCLA. The group continues to be a central voice on all things hunger and nutrition on campus.
