About the program

During the first several weeks of each semester, donation drives are held where students can donate their guest meal passes to students. For the first year of this program, swipes are distributed through the Saluki Food Pantry. The Saluki Food Pantry will distribute the swipes directly to the student’s ID card.

Are you experiencing food insecurity on campus? Check out our Campus Resources section below for information on the Saluki Food Pantry.

Program Roots

SIU launched their Swipe Out Hunger Program following a student-led initiative to end food insecurity on campus. Through a collaborative effort between Culinary and Nutrition Services, the Saluki Food Pantry, Wellness and Health Promotion Services, and the Office of Sustainably, SIU’s program raises awareness around the issues of student hunger and helps provide nutritious meals to students in need.
