Rice University

About the program

At the beginning of each semester, students can donate meals via a donation form from Rice Housing and Dining to their peers facing food insecurity. All students with an on-campus meal plan receive 5 guest meal swipes per semester. Students can choose to donate between 1 and 5 of these guest swipes each semester to students experiencing food insecurity. Swipes are then distributed based on identified need.

Are you experiencing food insecurity on campus? Students can fill our a form here if they’re in need and would like to be considered for swipes. You can also reach out toΒ [email protected]Β for all questions/needs related to food insecurity. Finally, check out our Campus Resources section below for information on the Rice University Pantry.

Program Roots

Anna Margaret Clyburn initiated the idea as a Student Association Senator. She approached Grace Wickerson, Dean of Undergraduates Bridget Gorman, and Rice Housing and Dining's David McDonald with the idea and helped develop the donation form and timeline.
