Welcome Bulldogs!

About the program

Throughout the semester, any student with a valid meal plan can donate up to three block meals per semester to this program. To donate, students complete an online form through the MSU Food Security Network website. For students that qualify, 15 block meals (15 meals) will be loaded on to the student’s ID card that can be used at the Perry Cafeteria and/or the Fresh Food Company.

Are you experiencing food insecurity on campus? Active students who do not have a valid, active meal plan or flex dollars are eligible to apply and receive meals through Block by Block by filling out this request form on the MSU Food Security Network website. Check out our Campus Resources section below for information on Bully’s Closet and Pantry.

Program Roots

In response to the need for additional food resources for students, Mississippi State University developed the MSU Food Security Network (FSN) in 2013 to connect students in need to community food pantries. In 2015, the Student Association created the Block by Block (BBB) program to allow MSU students to donate campus meals (block meals) to other students in need. In 2016, BBB joined the FSN which allowed every student that contacts the network to secure meals through BBB. Annually over 200 students are provided with food resources through the FSN and BBB, and the program distributes over 3,800 meals to students in need. MSU's Dining Services, Aramark, provides one meal for every BBB donation, providing $12,915 in in-kind donations towards the program each year.
