About the program

During the last two weeks of the spring semester, students are able to donate unused J points at tables outside of the dining halls and by emailing [email protected] from an HSU email account, including the HSU ID and the number of dollars that a student would like to donate to the J point program. These points are redistributed in increments of $35 to the accounts of students who are facing food insecurity through referrals from various departments across campus, including Reslife and the Dean of Students Office.

Are you a student facing food insecurity? Email [email protected] and include your student ID number (students requesting J-Points do not need to have a meal plan). Please also check out our Campus Resources section below for more information.

Program Roots

In 2013, Humboldt State began allowing students to donate leftover J points to help stock the campus food pantry. In 2018, the University launched a new and improved J point transfer program through a collaborative effort between health educator Ravin Craig, Dining Services, and the Oh! Snap team.
