History and Mission
In 2014 UC Davis established the Swipe Out Hunger program in order to give Student Housing residents an opportunity to contribute meal swipes to support students and community members in need. This fund currently supports the ASUCD Pantry, the Aggie Meal Share program, and the Yolo Food Bank.
How Swipe Out Hunger at Davis Works
There are two Swipe Out Hunger donation drives each academic year:
- In late November students can donate swipes at select locations in the residence halls and dining commons
- In mid June, at move-out, students can donate unused meal swipes
In the Fall 2016 donation drive, 3,745 swipes was collected, amounting to $11,235! To date, the UC Davis community has collected over $50,000 through Swipe Out Hunger drives.
