General Info/Chapter Story – Our chapter was founded in fall of 2014, starting out as a small cardboard box in the hallway of a dorm. During the spring semester, our food drive spread across campus, through a partnership with CSU Housing and Dining Services. In fall 2015, we received the CSU PRAXIS grant, awarding a $1000 to help fund and advertise our program. Last year, we partnered with a local nonprofit cafe, FoCo Cafe, those the Lights, Camera, Take Action Film Festival, highlighting how food and hunger look within our community. We also are proud to announce that we have been incorporated in the Associated Students of Colorado State University as a permanent position and branch of the Health Department, making this program a renewable, funded, and connected initiative on campus!

How it Works at Colorado State University- We are currently focusing on our bi-annual food drive. For two to three weeks each semester, we have red collection bins in the express stores on campus. Students can use meal swipes to purchase and donate food, which is then taken to the Food Bank for Larimer County or given to different offices on campus to facilitate small , in office, food pantries. We also are acting as the focal point to connect all food security and nutrition organizations and programs on campus

Upcoming Events – Our fall food is coming up! Collections will be from October 1-15th, and we will be partnering with the Rams Against Hunger to conduct a meal swipes drive in all the dining halls on October 16th. You can also find us helping the Slice office with Cans Around the Oval on October 18th!

Get Involved – We always need volunteers for the food drives, and people with a passion for food insecurity who want to find ways to share their passions and experiences. Please contact us at ascsu_foodinsecurities@mail.colostate.edu to find out more information!
